Do This in Memory of Me

By the grace of Almighty God, our community has grown steadily since the beginning of our apostolate.

In 2007, the Priestly Fraternity of Saint Peter began its work in Sarasota, purchasing a small former Protestant church of approximately 150 seats and establishing what is now Christ the King Catholic Church. What began with a small number of families has grown into a flourishing Traditional Latin Mass community.

Over the years, attendance has steadily increased. In recent times, it has more than doubled. Our chapel, once sufficient, can no longer accommodate the number of souls who come seeking the Faith.

To accommodate our expanding congregation, we must now build a new church.

The Time Has Come to Build

We currently offer multiple Sunday Masses and make use of overflow areas, yet even these measures are insufficient. Many who come are unable to remain due to overcrowding.

This happy problem makes clear that the time has come to build a new home for our parish. A church worthy to sustain us and our descendants with the fullness of Catholic life.

The planned church will be a true House of Prayer, built for the Holy Sacrifice of the Mass and the worship of Almighty God.

A Church Worthy of Our Lord

It will seat approximately 440 souls and be constructed with a sense of permanence, dignity, and beauty. Its design will reflect the sacred liturgy we celebrate and the unchanging truths of the Catholic Faith.

This church will glorify God and serve as a constant witness to the Faith for all who enter and all who pass by.

For Generations to Come

This work is not only for us, but for those who will follow.

It will serve as a place where souls are sanctified, where families are strengthened, and where vocations are fostered. For many years, it will help guide countless souls on their journey to eternal life.

It will stand as a lasting sign of the Faith, and as a source of sacramental grace for generations.

Campaign Prayer to Saint Joseph

In the Name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Ghost. Amen.

Saint Joseph, foster father of the Son of God our King, spouse of the Virgin Mary our queen, patron of the Universal Church and unsurpassed worker, we entrust our campaign, Do This in Memory of Me, to your intercession.

The heavenly Father appointed you the guardian of the Holy Family to provide for their needs and protect them from danger. Please provide for us, namely, a church to seat 400 souls, worthy of heaven, and within our sacrificial means.

May this church be worthy of our King and help many souls to heaven by the waters of Baptism and the great prayer of the Holy Sacrifice of the Mass, by the enlivening of Confession and the strengthening of Confirmation, by the holy uniting in Matrimony, and the balm of Anointing.

May this church witness the perennial and unchangeable deposit of faith and the durable antiquity of the sacred liturgy we celebrate.

Holy Joseph, we thank you for hearing us. So often did the Little Flower receive favors through you that she told those in need, Itte ad Joseph. And so we do.
